Central Land Council Chair Warren Williams Speaks

Central Land Council

We are all grieving for Kumanjayi Little Baby.

My heart goes out to her extended family, my family.

I am so grateful to all the volunteers, emergency services and police staff who helped find my granddaughter.

Thank you for all your efforts and for coming together as a community.

To those who think this is the time to take out their grief on the people who serve our community, I say stop right now.

Go home, look after each other, stay strong, stay united.

To those who think this is the time to use Mparntwe town camps as a political football, I also say stop.

Have the decency to give us space to process the trauma of the last week.

To the media I say thank you for your coverage, especially to the ABC.

Please let us grieve in peace for a few days now.

Warren Williams,

Central Land Council Chair
