Central Reserve South Oval in Glen Waverley is now open for community use following the official reopening of the oval after $1.8 million reconstruction works.

The redevelopment works, featuring a full reconstruction of the oval, include:

  • new drainage and irrigation
  • 10 new turf centre wicket strips
  • a cricket wicket cover storage pad
  • a new perimeter fence and access gates
  • synthetic grass covered concrete pads in front of the coaches' boxes and access gates.

The redevelopment will allow the community, including tenant clubs Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club, Mazenod Panthers All-Ability Football Club and Richmond Cricket Club, to benefit from improved playing conditions.

There'll be better drainage and reduced weather-related closures; increased capacity for cricket training and matches; and a more sustainable and resilient sports ground for the community.

While the oval is now open for community use, we are continuing to prepare the new turf wicket area, which is anticipated to be available for play after Christmas.

The redevelopment was officially opened on Thursday, 15 October by Mayor Cr Stuart James and Member for Glen Waverley, John Mullahy.

This project was delivered by the City of Monash in partnership with the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund.
