The amount went towards the overall Good Friday Appeal total of $18.1 million, with CFA collected funds accounting for almost 9% of the overall money raised.

"It's an absolutely fantastic effort to have raised this amount for the RCH" said CFA Chief Officer Gavin Freeman.

"I just want to say thanks to all those who have contributed. I know there have been chook raffles, car washes, sausage sizzles, cake bakes and all sorts of fundraising efforts that you've come up with.

"I'm immensely proud of your efforts, well done everyone".

Money raised from the Good Friday Appeal goes towards ensuring The Royal Children's Hospital continues to offer world-class care, the latest equipment and research to help sick children have the best start in life.

At the CFA-MFB Treadmill Challenge on Holy Thursday, just over $8,000 was raised by the state's two fire service organisations, with a combined total of 270km ran over the 14 hours.

CFA were also present at the Good Friday Appeal 'Kids Day Out', where both kids and adults alike learnt about fire safety from the likes of CFA's own Captain Koala.
