CFMEU Statement on conviction of David Hanna

CFMEU Construction and General Division National Executive

Statement from the National Construction Division of the CFMEU on the conviction of former official, David Hanna, of corrupt activity in relation to diverting building resources for his own benefit:

The union regards the findings of the court as appropriate and condemns his behaviour as a betrayal of members' trust.

Hanna's activities in relation to this matter were kept secret from the union.

He was forced to resign as an official and as a member of the union after an internal inquiry found him to have acted inappropriately in 2015.

The union has not provided any support, be it financial or otherwise, in his subsequent legal challenges.

The CFMEU condemns corruption and will never accept this type of behaviour from its elected officials or employees.
