CFMEU: Statement on fatal scaffolding collapse at Macquarie Park

Statement on fatal scaffolding collapse at Macquarie Park

The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union's NSW Branch officials have attended the site of a fatal accident in Macquarie Park, Sydney today.

An 18 year old apprentice carpenter was tragically killed and another worker critically injured after a scaffold collapse at the Ganellen site in Sydney today.

"This young man was a member of the union, and we are united in our grief," CFMEU National Construction Secretary Dave Noonan said.

"We will do all that we can for his family, and to assist Police and investigators.

"Tragically, there were 30 deaths on construction sites nationally in 2017.

"This is why safety on building sites is union business, and we will continue to fight for safe construction sites across Australia."
