Champagne Joins G7, G20, IMF, World Bank Talks In D.C

Department of Finance Canada

Amid growing global division and uncertainty, Canada is forging a stronger, more independent, and resilient economy by engaging strategically with international partners all while advancing a strong economic plan at home.

To that end, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will be participating in the G7 and G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meetings - and the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group - in Washington D.C. on April 15, 16 and 17.

These meetings will focus on the evolving global economic outlook, the risks facing the global economy, including spillover effects from the conflict in the Middle East, Russia's illegal war against Ukraine, and how multilateral partners can work together to address these challenges. The Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Sergii Marchenko, will participate in parts of the meetings.

While in Washington, Minister Champagne will also be meeting with government and business leaders alike to build on Canada's strong trade diversification imperative by advancing strategic partnerships and attracting new investment opportunities to Canada.
