A man is due in court today charged after the alleged assault of a second man at Haymarket yesterday.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were called the corner of Quay Street and Ultimo Road about 1am yesterday (Sunday 12 October 2025), responding to reports of a brawl.
While police were on scene, they found a 34-year-old man near Thomas Street suffering critical head injuries.
He was taken by NSW Ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital where he has undergone surgery. Police have been told his injuries are potentially life-threatening.
Following inquiries, a 23-year-old man was arrested at Burwood Police Station about 1am today (Monday 13 October 2025), by Sydney City PAC detectives.
The man has now been charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
He has been refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court later today.
