Charge after sex act on train - Operation Artemis

Investigators from Operation Artemis have charged a man over an alleged sexual act on a train in the Southern Highlands earlier this month.

About 12pm on Thursday 6 August 2019, a man boarded a train at Bargo Railway Station and sat next to a 16-year-old girl.

The man allegedly exposed his genitals and began committing a sexual act but stopped when another passenger entered the carriage.

The girl got off the train and the incident was reported to police.

Officers from Campbelltown Police Transport Command commenced an investigation, and yesterday (Tuesday 20 August 2019), police attended a correctional facility in Silverwater and arrested a 41-year-old man.

He has now been charged with the offence of sexual act without consent.

He is due to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Wednesday 21 August 2019) by AVL.

Operation Artemis is an ongoing operation targeting sexual offences on the public transport network.
