Charges after Port Hughes marine incident, SA

Following the emergency services rescue of an overturned boat at Port Hughes, police have arrested and charged a 30-year-old woman from Morphett Vale, according to SA Police.

She has been charged with refusing name and address, refusing to supply a blood sample and property damage in relation to damage caused at a local hospital.

Earlier this morning, four people from the overturned boat were located.

Police, emergency services, Sea Rescue and local boaties were called to the Port Hughes boat ramp just after 6am this morning after one of the people on board managed to swim to shore to raise the alarm.

A second person made it to shore a short time later and was treated by paramedics. The remaining two persons who stayed with the up-turned boat were picked up by a local fisherman just before 7am this morning returned to shore.

It is believed the small 'tinny' boat capsized around 2am, Wednesday 6am December, about 2 kilometres south of Port Hughes on the Yorke Peninsula.

The woman has been bailed to appear in the Kadina Magistrates Court on 12 February.
