Charges - Drug Offences - Katherine

Northern Territory Police have charged a 33-year-old male for drug related offences.

Around 10:30am on 16 November Katherine Police apprehended a vehicle for the purpose of random breath testing on Emungalan Road, Katherine, Northern Territory Police say.

Officers observed a faint smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle and Drug Detector Dog Hugo was deployed.

DDD Hugo provided a response to a tyre which was located on the back of the vehicle and police located approximately 908 grams of cannabis. A further search of the vehicle located additional cannabis, a bong, and a large thermos with traces of cannabis inside.

The male was placed under arrest and conveyed to Katherine Police Station where he participated in a drug test and returned a positive result for cannabis.

He was charged with:

  • Supply commercial quantity schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Possess commercial quantity schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Driver with prohibited drug in body
  • Possess thing to administer dangerous drug

The man was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 14 January 2019.
