Northern Territory Police have arrested a 26-year-old male for drug offences.
Officers from the Drug and Organised Crime Division conducted a traffic apprehension of the vehicle driven by the male, Northern Territory Police say.
When asked to exit his vehicle, police allege the male ran off in an attempt to escape custody. He was apprehended shortly after where he was searched and allegedly found to be in the possession of 143.5 grams of methamphetamine.
Police subsequently executed a search warrant at the male’s property where they allege they located a small quantity of methamphetamine, digital scales, ammunition, a taser, and an unsecured firearm which is believed to have been stolen from a property earlier this year.
Police also seized the male’s vehicle and $1,000 cash.
The male has been charged with:
- Supply commercial qty schedule 1 dangerous drug - methamphetamine
- Supply less than commercial qty schedule 1 dangerous drug - methamphetamine x 2
- Escape lawful custody
- Trespass
- Damage to property
- Receive or possess property received in commission of an offence
- Receive stolen property
- Possess firearm without licence
- Fail to meet storage requirements
- Possess ammunition without a licence
- Possess prohibited weapon
- Possess thing to administer dangerous drug
- Breach of bail
He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court today.
