Charges following Coburg North hit run

Fawkner Highway Patrol officers have charged a man in relation to a hit-run collision in Coburg North on Saturday (22 September), Victoria Police say.

It is alleged one of the organisers of the car show at the property, was marshalling cars out of the venue at the end of the event when one of the cars performed a low-speed burnout.

The organiser attempted to confront the male driver when he was struck by the sedan shortly before 4pm and carried a short distance.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop at the scene

A 21-year-old Forest Hill man handed himself into police this morning.

His car was impounded and he has been charged with numerous offences including conduct endangering life, fail to render assistance and traffic-related offences.

He has been bailed with strict licence restrictions to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
