The Forensic Crash Unit have charged an 18-year-old Middle Ridge male with multiple offences following an investigation into a fatal traffic crash in Hodgson Vale last December.
Shortly before 9pm on 31 December, 2024, police will allege a white single cab Hilux was travelling along Windermere Drive before striking a 57-year-old Toowoomba man near Hazelmere Court.
The Hilux driver allegedly failed to remain at the scene.
The 57-year-old man was initially transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment; however, he passed away from his injuries a few weeks later.
The alleged driver of the Hilux, a Middle Ridge male who was 17 at the time of the incident, was charged with one count each of drive without due care and attention causing death, driver fail to remain at scene and render assistance, fail to comply with duties of driver and give required particulars to a police officer, and driving defective vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in Toowoomba Childrens Court on 8 January, 2026.
The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to appeal to anyone who may have information or relevant vision of the incident or moments leading up to it to come forward.
