Charges laid after assault near Wollongong, NSW

Police have charged a woman following an assault and bag snatch in Mangerton this week, NSW Police say.

About 5.20pm on Monday 23 April 2018, a 44-year-old woman was walking on Mangerton Road when she was allegedly assaulted and had her handbag stolen by another woman.

The 44-year-old woman sustained minor injuries, including scratches to her face and hand.

Officers from Wollongong Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 46-year-old woman was arrested at Wollongong Police Station where she was charged with robbery.

She was refused bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 26 April 2018).
