Two men will face court after an alleged aggravated break and enter near Forster earlier this week, while another man has been charged after firearms were allegedly located in Taree, NSW Police say.
About 3pm on Sunday (3 June 2018), a group of men entered a property on Goola Place, Coomba Park, armed with a firearm and a knife.
The men allegedly threatened the occupants of the home before stealing personal items and leaving the area.
Officers from Manning/Great Lakes Police District launched an investigation into the incident.
Following inquiries, two men, aged 18 and 35, were arrested in Forster yesterday (Tuesday 5 June 2018).
Police executed a search warrant at a home in Forster where three firearms, clothing and drugs were located and seized.
The 18-year-old man was charged with special aggravated break, enter and steal.
The 35-year-old man was charged with robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess prohibited drug (x2), possess unauthorised pistol, possess a barrel for a firearm unless authorised by licence and possess ammunition without holding licence.
Both men were refused bail and will appear at Taree Local Court today (Wednesday 6 June 2018).
Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
In a separate incident, about 2pm yesterday (Tuesday 5 June 2018), police attended a home on Valerie Street, Taree, to speak with a man.
Officers from Manning/Great Lakes Police District conducted a search of the premises and located two firearms inside a roof cavity, a motorcycle and an amount of heroin.
A 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with seven offences including; receive property theft, possess unauthorised firearm (x2), possess ammunition without holding licence, not keep firearm safely, supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Taree Local Court today (Wednesday 6 June 2018).
Manning Great Lakes Police District Commander, Superintendent Shane Cribb praised the work of officers throughout both investigations.
"Yesterday’s arrests demonstrate the ongoing dedication and commitment of police in targeting anyone involved in organised criminal activities that impact on the community."
