Charges laid after man commits acts of indecency, NSW

A man has been charged after allegedly committing two acts of indecency at a beach in Newcastle, NSW Police say.

Police have been told between Thursday 18 and Monday 22 January 2018, a 12-year-old boy attended a beach on Memorial Drive, Bar Beach, on several occasions with a family member.

It will be alleged the boy witnessed the man commit two acts of indecency while using the public change rooms.

About 1pm on Friday 22 January 2018, the boy reported the incidents to lifeguards after seeing the man on the beach.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command were contacted an attended the location, where a 75-year-old man was arrested.

The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with two counts of commit act of indecency with person under 16 years.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 23 January 2018).
