Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Caulfield South on 15 May.

It's alleged the male driver of a black BMW sedan was travelling along North Road just after 10.30pm when he collided with another vehicle.

The impact forced the other vehicle, a silver Honda sedan to roll.

Sadly, both occupants of the silver Honda, a 22-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man both from Glen Huntly, died at the scene.

The 24-year-old driver of the BMW was released from hospital today and interviewed.

The Ashwood man has been charged with two counts of culpable driving and has been bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 25 September.

His passenger, a 24-year-old Glen Huntly man, remains in hospital in a stable condition.
