Charges Laid for Indecent Exposure to Kids on Gold Coast

Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) have charged a man following an investigation into alleged child sex offences dating back to 2021.

It will be alleged the offences occurred between 2021 and 2023 at a number of shopping centres in the northern Gold Coast area, including major complexes in Biggera Waters and Ashmore, and involved the man exposing himself to young children.

The man was taken into custody without incident at a Coombabah address last night.

The 68-year-old Coombabah man has been charged with six counts of indecent treatment of child under 16 (expose) – child under 12 years, and one count each of indecent treatment of child under 16 (expose) and indecent act in any place to which the public are permitted access.

Detectives held several appeals for information from the public to assist with investigations late last year and thank those who provided information.

Officers continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

The man was denied police bail and appeared at Southport Magistrates Court today (February 20).
