The Drug and Organised Crime Division Gangs Task Force have charged two Darwin Mongrel Mob members in relation to a disturbance in Darwin on Tuesday morning.
Police were notified of the disturbance at a licensed premises on Mitchell Street around 2am, with security personnel alleging that a 24-year-old male produced a knife from his pocket and used it in a threatening manner towards them.
A second male aged 35 and president of the outlaw club reportedly placed his hand inside his shoulder bag and threatened to shoot the staff with a gun.
The two men and a third male aged 36 then allegedly gestured towards staff with Mongrel Mob gang signals and barked at staff, who called police.
General Duty officers attended and arrested and took into custody the 24-year-old and 35-year-old for street offences. A knife was also found on the 35-year-old.
A later review of Police CCTV and footage within the venue identified the incident involving the knife and as a result, charges were laid as follows:
24-year-old:
- Assault worker x2
- Going armed in public
- Engage in violent conduct
- Make threats to kill
- Fail to leave licensed premises
35-year-old:
- Assault worker x2
- Going armed in public
- Engage in violent conduct
- Make threats to kill
- Fail to leave licensed premises
- Attempt to destroy evidence
The third male decamped the area in a taxi and his whereabouts remains unknown.
