Cherrybrook Public School to Replace Decades-Old Demountables

NSW Gov

Families in The Hills are getting a first look at a major upgrade on the way for Cherrybrook Public School, with the Minns Labor Government releasing designs for the latest in a raft of new and upgraded schools being delivered for the growing area.

The designs showcase plans to replace the school's 16 demountables - some more than 30 years old - with two new three-storey buildings that will include 28 permanent classrooms, an expanded and refurbished library, a new hall and covered outdoor learning area, and a new canteen.

When the former Liberal National Government left office, half of Cherrybrook Public School's classrooms were demountables. Upon the completion of the upgrade in 2030, all demountables will be removed, returning more than 2,500 square metres of play space to students.

The concept designs provide the Cherrybrook community an early glimpse of the upgrade before detailed plans are placed on public exhibition later this year.

The project is among a raft of school upgrades being delivered across The Hills area, including at Rouse Hill High School, Excelsior Public School, and upgrades recently completed at Castle Hill Public School and Matthew Pearce Public School.

The Minns Labor Government's $1 billion investment in new school infrastructure across The Hills - the largest investment in new schools in a generation - also includes five brand new schools across Box Hill, Gables and Bella Vista.

This investment is part of the Minns Labor Government's record $9.2 billion funding for school infrastructure over the next four years in the 2026-27 NSW Budget, which includes $4.1 billion for new and upgraded schools across Western Sydney.

This targeted investment will ensure growing communities get access to a world-class public education, close to home.
