The Hunter's largest and longest-running child and family expo is poised to once again connect families with professional services across Lake Macquarie.
This year's You're Kidding Me Expo features five days of free stalls and shows in Charlestown Square's centre court, bringing together services and support organisations for people expecting a baby and families with young children.
Lake Macquarie Mayor Adam Shultz, who opened the event on Monday, said the week of activities also created valuable opportunities for professionals to collaborate and build referral pathways.
"When they work together, local services can better help children and families thrive," he said.
"You're Kidding Me is all about supporting our community and giving every child the best possible start in life."
Services featuring this year include speech pathology, early childhood education and care, family health and nutrition and many more.
Experts from the private, government and not-for-profit sectors will be on hand throughout the expo to answer questions and offer advice.
Lake Macquarie City Council Coordinator Social and Community Planning Jess Salvador said this year's event also included a special 3-7pm session on Thursday 4 June aimed at families unable to attend during working hours.
The program features free daily 10am shows, from reptile encounters to superhero character meet-and-greets.
The first 100 visitors each day will receive a complimentary bag to collect goodies from stallholders.
