Child approach in Marrickville

Police are investigating a child approach in Sydney’s inner-west, NSW Police say.

About 1pm yesterday (Wednesday 7 February 2018), a 15-year-old girl was outside a school at the intersection of Marrickville Road and South Street, Marrickville, when she observed a white van with a man in it.

The man waved the girl over to him and tried to entice her towards the vehicle.

The girl refused and walked away before the man followed her on foot for a short distance. The girl then ran back into the school.

The incident was later reported to police from Inner West Police Area Command who commenced an investigation.

The man has been described as being of Middle Eastern / Mediterranean appearance, aged in his 40s, about 178-183cm tall and wearing an orange fluoro t-shirt and black shorts.
