Child critical after being struck by car, NSW

A child in in a critical condition after being struck by a car near Lismore, NSW Police say.

At 10am (Monday 17 September 2018), emergency services were called to Cameron Road, McLeans Ridges, 10km east of Lismore, after an eight-year-old girl was struck by a southbound sedan.

Emergency services treated the girl at the scene, before she was taken to Lismore Base Hospital where she is understood to be in a critical condition.

The male driver was also taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests, and to be treated for shock.

A crime scene has been established which is being examined by forensic police.

Officers from Richmond Police District are conducting inquiries into the incident.
