Child dies after being found in pool at Lake Macquarie

A child has died after being found unresponsive in a pool at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Police were called to a street in Teralba about 3.15pm (Thursday 11 January 2024), after responding to reports a six-year-old boy was missing.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District conducted a search of the area and located a child unresponsive in the pool of a nearby property.

Police commenced CPR before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, the child was unable to be revived.

The child is yet to be formally identified, however is believed to be the six-year-old boy.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
