Child injured in building fall at Waterloo

A child has been injured in a building fall in Sydney's south earlier today.

About 3.30pm (Tuesday 16 February 2021), emergency services were called to an apartment block on Botany Road, Waterloo, following reports a child had fallen from a fifth-storey rooftop.

Upon arrival, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command, and NSW Ambulance paramedics, found a 11-year-old boy on the ground suffering leg injuries, consistent with a fall.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to The Children's Hospital at Randwick. He was treated for fractures to his leg.

The boy's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

A crime scene was established and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are underway.

Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances.
