Child injured in dog attack, NSW

A child has been taken to hospital after being attacked by two dogs at a home in the Blue Mountains this afternoon, NSW Police say.

The girl was in the backyard of a home in Hazelbrook about 2.45pm today, when she was bitten by two large dogs.

She sustained multiple injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

Police have been told she is in a serious condition; however, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police from the Blue Mountains Local Area Command and rangers from the Blue Mountains City Council have seized the dogs.

It’s believed the dogs are owned by an occupant of the home; the child was visiting the family.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
