Childcare Worker Charged With Assault Near Bathurst

A childcare worker has been charged with assaulting a child in the state's central west.

On Friday 8 August 2025 officers from Chifley Police District commenced an investigation following reports of a 4-year-old boy being assaulted by a worker at a childcare centre on Ingersole Drive, Kelso.

It will be alleged that shortly after 3pm the previous day (Thursday 7 August 2025), a 24-year-old female staff member forced the child onto a bed. During the incident the child's head struck the edge of the bed resulting in a 2cm laceration.

Medical attention was immediately sought for the child.

Following inquiries about 3.15pm yesterday (Tuesday 16 September 2025), the woman was arrested at a home in Kelso.

She was taken to Bathurst Police Station and charged with reckless wounding and granted conditional bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday 29 October 2025.
