Childcare Workers Charged in 17-Month-Old Assault

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged two childcare employees with allegedly assaulting a 17-month-old boy in their care.

On Tuesday 26 June 2025, detectives attached to State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad received a report regarding injuries to a 17-month-old boy at an early learning centre in South Wentworthville.

Detectives commenced an investigation and ascertained the injuries were allegedly caused by two childcare workers at the facility during separate occasions on the same day.

Following further extensive inquiries, yesterday (Tuesday 15 July 2025), detectives issued two women Future Court Attendance Notices.

A 42-year-old woman was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, and a 32-year-old woman was charged with common assault.

Both women will appear in Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday 27 August 2025.
