Two lifelong friends from Chirnside Park have turned persistence into a payday after scoring more than $1.2 million in Saturday Lotto with numbers they've been playing for over thirty years.
The victorious Victorians held one of the five division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4577, drawn Saturday 31 May 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $1,228,899.07.
"I'm very good! I just found out the incredible news," one of the winning friends laughed when we called to confirm the wondrous news.
"I've got a sore throat, so I've been sleeping, but my friend I share the ticket with checked the winning numbers and called me. He just went 'Did you see? We've got all six numbers!'.
"Gosh, it's crazy. You never think it will really happen. We've been playing these same numbers for over 30 years.
"We chose them all those years ago, and they've finally come through!
"We initially had a group of us that played together, but a few dropped out, and then it was just the two of us.
"It's going to come in very handy. I might buy myself a new car and I can treat my lovely partner to a holiday.
"It's going to really help my friend too. We can't wait to catch up and celebrate. Thank you so much."
Their winning System 8 and 10 entry was purchased at Croydon Lotto, 118 Main Street, Croydon.
Croydon Lotto owner Mal Priyal said she was ecstatic to hear the winning news that her outlet had sold a division one winning ticket.
"We're absolutely thrilled to have been a part of changing someone's life like this," she said.
"It's super exciting because this is the first time we've sold a division one winning entry during my time here.
"We've put up balloons and have been letting all our customers know the exciting news.
"Congratulations to the winner, we hope it makes your life easier!"
