Following the success of Cinema Pop Up in Warragul last year, the program is coming to Drouin this December with four outdoor movie screenings of family friendly movies to enjoy under the stars.

This unique outdoor cinema experience will run over four sessions from Thursday 5 December to Sunday 8 December at Drouin's Civic Park.

The event series will feature the following films selected by the local community:

  • Thursday 5 December – Aladdin (2019) (PG)
  • Friday 6 December – Elf (PG)
  • Saturday 7 December – The Grinch (PG)
  • Sunday 8 December – Big Hero 6 (PG)

Tickets are available for purchase at the gate for $10 for adults and $5 for children, however, if you book online, tickets are free for kids under 17 and $5 for adults. Tickets are available via the Cinema Pop up website.

All tickets for Elf on Friday 6 December are free, as part of the Drouin Lights Up Festival. Gates open at 7.00pm.

The pop-up roadshow will feature movies, free games and activities for kids, a candy bar with popcorn and snacks, and a bar for the adults. Movie-goers can bring their own food; however, BYO alcohol and soft drink is not permitted.

VIP reserved seating is available by booking a bean bed for only $20.

Baw Baw Shire Council has provided $5,500 towards this event as part of the Economic Development Strategy to attract larger events to the region for local community enjoyment and for visitors.

The event is further supported by Toyota, Prime Super and the EJ Whitten Foundation.

Cinema Pop Up is the largest outdoor regional cinema operator in Victoria, with pop ups running throughout regional Victoria all summer.

Attendees are encouraged to come along early, get a good spot, and set up with blankets and cushions before the movie kicks off.
