City Nature Challenge 2026

Join us for the 2026 City Nature Challenge - a global nature scavenger hunt where cities race to spot and record as many wildlife and plants as possible.

Every photo and sighting helps put Boroondara's flora and fauna on the world map - and adds to real research used by scientists. The challenge runs from Friday 24 to Monday 27 April.

How to participate

Using a smart device

Download the iNaturalist app to your device or sign up via the City Nature Challenge website.

Head outside - backyard, street or park - and snap what you see. Then share your observations in the app.

Your sightings feed into Australia's plants and animals database giving scientists more data to support better outcomes for our environment.
