The City of Canada Bay is celebrating Small Business Month this October with a practical workshop designed to help local business owners build their businesses, plan for the future and achieve a better work-life balance.
The workshop will bring together local business owners for an evening of practical advice and insights from successful entrepreneur Jo Burston.
City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said Small Business Month was an opportunity to recognise the important contribution local businesses make to the community.
"Our local businesses are a huge part of what makes the City of Canada Bay such a great place to live, work and visit," Mayor Megna said.
"From our busy shopping strips to the many small businesses operating across our suburbs, these businesses create local jobs, support our economy and contribute so much to our community.
"We want to see our local businesses succeed, and this workshop is a great opportunity for business owners to take some time out of their busy schedules, learn from an experienced entrepreneur and think about where they want to take their business next."
The workshop will be led by Jo Burston, founder and CEO of Inspiring RareBirds, a social impact business dedicated to advancing economic equality through education, mentoring and community connections.
Jo is an accomplished entrepreneur who grew her first startup, Job Capital, from $0 to $40 million in just four years and has been recognised as one of Australia's top 30 female entrepreneurs.
The session will explore how business owners can plan with purpose, grow with confidence, prioritise their wellbeing and make decisions that align with their personal and professional goals.
"Running a small business takes an enormous amount of hard work, and it can be difficult to find the time to step back and focus on the bigger picture," he said.
"Whether you're just starting out or have been running a business for years, there will be something valuable to take away from this workshop.
"It's also a chance to meet other local business owners, share experiences and build connections within our business community."
