Improving road safety remains a top priority for the City of Canada Bay, with several key projects underway or in development.
Council has prioritised the review of conditions at the intersection of Flavelle Street and Gipps Street in Concord following concerns raised by residents. An early concept design has been developed which will help Council obtain in principle support from Transport for NSW and apply for funding. Once the design has been further developed, we will share the plans with the community for feedback.
In addition, two new speed radar displays will be installed on First Avenue, Five Dock and Collingwood Street, Drummoyne within the next few weeks. These are just two of 10 new units, with several already replacing older equipment to improve driver awareness and reduce speeding.
Other upcoming works include:
• Speed bumps and a traffic island upgrade on Nullawarra Avenue and Nirranda Street, Concord
• New pedestrian refuge islands on Hampden Road at both Sibbick Street and Tiler Street, Russell Lea
• Roundabout upgrades on Brays Road, Mortlake and Ian Parade at Broughton Street, Concord
• New speed bumps along Cabarita Road, Concord
These initiatives form part of Council's broader commitment to creating safer, more accessible streets for everyone in our community.
