City seeks community members for new Parks, Open Space and Recreation reserves Advisory Committee

The City of Greater Bendigo is seeking expressions of interest from community members who would like to be considered for the newly created Parks, Open Spaces and Recreation Reserves Advisory Committee.

City of Greater Bendigo Health and Wellbeing Director Vicky Mason said this is a new advisory committee and one of the key actions outlined in the 2018 Public Space Plan.

"This will be a formal advisory committee of Council. Membership will be for four years and it will meet six times a year to provide an important advisory and advocacy role for a diverse range of matters related to our open spaces," Ms Mason said.

"We are looking for five community members who have a strong interest, passion or experience in Greater Bendigo's Parks, Open Spaces and Recreation Reserves

"The committee's role is to provide the best possible advice, guidance and strategic representation to Council on matters concerning our green spaces.

"The committee will contribute to the long-term vision for our local parks, open spaces and recreation reserves.

"The City's open spaces are highly valued and important facilities that cater to residents, visitors, local groups and organisations and the general health and wellbeing of the community and this is an important advisory committee for Council."

Expressions of interest close on Friday April 10, 2020. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview in late April and May.
