A unique opportunity exists to recruit four General Managers to work alongside the CEO and lead the transformation of the City of Perth.
Commissioners were appointed in March 2018 following the suspension of Council, with the focus on restoring good governance and the confidence of community and stakeholders.
Chief Executive Officer Murray Jorgensen was appointed in November 2018, and subsequently undertook an operational review to improve efficiencies in the delivery of services to customers, community and stakeholders, and to re-establish the City as a Local Government exemplar.
Mr Jorgensen said the review identified the delivery of services could be more efficiently achieved, and the City subsequently began an improvement plan for corporate recovery.
“Over the past 12 months, several of the executive have resigned to move on to other opportunities,” Mr Jorgensen said.
“During this time, the City has managed with acting positions temporarily in place to work alongside two existing directors, who have resigned but will remain with the City until July.
“Considering the integration of five portfolios into four, coupled with more recent executive resignations, an opportunity arose to establish a new executive team to provide united strategic leadership, and drive improved operational performance.
“This is truly a unique and rewarding opportunity for skilled executives to get in on the ground floor, and be a part of building something that is incredibly important to our capital city.”
Deputy Chair Commissioner Gaye McMath said the Commissioners fully supported the changes initiated by the CEO.
“The consolidation of five portfolios into four will improve synergies within the organisation, by ensuring all service units are working as one team,” Deputy Chair Commissioner McMath said.
“This recruitment drive comes at an incredibly exciting time for the City of Perth, and will further align the delivery of high quality services with the expectations of our community, ratepayers and stakeholders.
“The City of Perth has much to offer and exceptional candidates are encouraged to apply.”
The General Manager roles attract a total remuneration package ranging between $200,000 to $300,000 each.
Candidates can apply via Seek.com.au by 31 May.
