City Seeks Interest for Belmont Market Operation

The City of Greater Geelong has opened Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to operate the Belmont Market .

The market is held each Sunday at the Barwon Valley Activity Centre (BVAC) and is extremely popular with the community as one of the City's largest and most affordable community markets.

The intention of seeking a new operator is to ensure that the market can continue to run as it has for many decades.

Community organisations, not-for-profit groups and experienced operators are encouraged to apply.

As part of the application process , operators will need to propose how they will continue to operate the market as it is now.

The successful respondent will be granted the rights to occupy the area and to operate independently of the City at the current Market times.

Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM:

We've heard from stallholders and visitors that they love the Belmont Market on a Sunday for its vibrancy and community focus.

A new operator will be able to preserve and strengthen what people already love about this market.
