City-Wide Development Contributions Plan 2020 to go on exhibition - Wollongong

Council has endorsed the draft Wollongong City-Wide Development Contributions Plan 2020 for exhibition.

The Plan is an important tool to assist with the funding of public infrastructure and is updated annually to reflect Council's works program.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that development contributions are used to fund infrastructure projects that benefit the community like roads, bridges, footpaths, community centres, parks and sportsgrounds.

"Last year, these funds were used to complete community infrastructure such as the Brownlee Park Playground replacement, Farmborough Heights Community Tennis Courts, the Northcliffe Drive roundabout and footpaths in various parts of the City."

The draft Plan includes an updated list of proposed projects and Council expenditure as well as new maps to identify the proposed projects locations.

"Maintaining and increasing public infrastructure is an ongoing process to deliver projects that meet the changing needs of our community. These upgrades and improvements not only make Wollongong a liveable City but also provide residents and visitors with improved access to public spaces."

"The draft Plan includes flexibility for the delivery of projects by including a four-year work schedule, which enables projects to either be brought forward or delayed, depending on other issues such as the timing of approvals."

The Plan reflects changes to Council's Delivery Program 2018-2022 and Operational Plan 2020-2021 adopted on 29 June 2020.

The draft Plan will be exhibited for a period of 28 days and copies will be available on Council's website and at Council's Administration Centre and libraries.
