Civilian employee charged with drug offences

A civilian employee has been charged with alleged drug offences following a vehicle search in Surry Hills.

About 8.45pm on Saturday (28 August 2021), officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command were conducting proactive patrols of Kippax Street, when they stopped a black Mercedes registered to an address in Sydney's south-west.

Officers spoke to the driver, a 41-year-old man, before searching his vehicle and allegedly locating prohibited drugs.

The man, who is a civilian employee attached to a Specialist Command, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug and possess prescribed restricted substance. He was also issued a PIN for breaching the Public Health Order.

He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 14 October 2021.

His employment status will be reviewed.
