Clandestine Laboratory Squad uncover drug lab in Elsternwick

Detectives from the Clandestine Laboratory Squad arrested three people late yesterday and uncovered a clandestine laboratory as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

The arrests followed an extensive investigation which culminated in the execution of search warrants in Elsternwick about 2pm on Monday 9 December.

Clandestine Laboratory Squad detectives were supported by police from the Drug Taskforce and Prahran and Caulfield Divisional Response Unit throughout the day.

A crime scene guard was placed on the property overnight as a search of the premises will be protracted.

A 56-year-old man has been charged with possess equipment, substance and material for trafficking in a drug of dependence and intentionally permit another person to use that land and premises for trafficking in a drug of dependence.

A 61-year-old man has been charged with possess equipment, substance and material for trafficking in a drug of dependence, traffick comm quantity - methylamphetamine, non-prohibited possess unprescribed longarm.

The third person arrested, a 52-year-old woman, was released and is expected to be charged on summons.

The two people charged were remanded overnight to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday 10 December.
