Clarification: Roadside floods 'bad for business' article

In the 25 June 2019 edition of Southern Peninsula News, an article about flooding on Point Nepean Road in Rosebud, makes reference to sewage run off points being the cause of the flooding.
Business Proprietor Baha Jamal Eddine is quoted as saying his calls to the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council had not been 'followed up'.
Following Mr Eddine's inquiry to the Council, the Shire Roads, Drainage & Cleansing Operations team investigated the situation and provided a response which Mayor David Gill forwarded to Mr Jamal on Monday 24 June.
His response included:
"The pits and drainage system are the responsibility of VicRoads to clean and maintain. A few weeks ago when we had a heavy rain event we notified them that the pits required cleaning out and they assured us that it would happen in the near future.
After further investigation VicRoads confirmed that the flooding was due to sand build up in the pits. The pits were cleaned this week.
Mayor Gill said we understand the importance of maintaining Shire infrastructure and commit to responding quickly when issues are reported.
"In this instance, after assessing the situation, we referred the action to the responsible agency VicRoads."
"Council will continue to advocate that this interruption to traders and their customers be fixed as soon as possible," Cr Gill said.
