Clean Energy Advice For First Nations Peoples

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

First Nations peoples want access to expert advice and support to get involved in clean energy projects.

The Australian Government is investing over $39 million across 3 years to help First Nations communities build skills, confidence and knowledge in clean energy.

These funds are for Advice Grants - delivered in 2 rounds. Round 1 has a total of $8.6 million available. Funding will provide grants between $5,000 - $80,000 for training, planning and professional advice.

The grants support community leadership, meaning First Nations peoples decide what advice is needed.

This supports goals set out in the First Nations Clean Energy Strategy (FNCES) and the Closing the Gap agreement.

The FNCES has 3 main goals:

  • Power First Nations Communities with Clean Energy
  • Enable Equitable Partnerships
  • Achieve Economic Benefits with First Nations Peoples.

Round 1 of the Advice Grants has opened on 4 March and will be open for 6 months, or until funds are exhausted.

This program is designed to be easy to apply for.
