Bayside Council is supporting Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 1 March and encouraging all residents to register to take part.
This year, Bayside Council is hosting a community clean-up event at Cook Park, Ramsgate Beach (opposite the Ramsgate Life Saving Club). Residents and visitors are encouraged to get involved by registering online or signing up on the day.
Council will have a marquee set up with supplies for volunteers, including collection bags, gloves and a limited number of litter pickers. Participants are welcome to bring their own gloves or litter pickers if they have them.
Everyone wanting to take part in the Bayside Community Clean Up is encouraged to register: Bayside Community Clean Up
Clean Up Australia Day is Australia's largest community-based environmental event that has inspired local communities to help improve our environment and eliminate litter.
Bayside Council supports Clean Up Australia Day each year with Council staff offering roving support on the day, directing volunteer groups to areas that need attention and supplying additional waste bags and gloves if required. Council staff will collect and dispose of the waste collected on the day.
Mayor Edward McDougall said:
"It is incredible to see how Bayside residents have embraced Clean Up Australia Day. Our community has helped remove tonnes of waste from our foreshore, bushland and parks over the years."
