South Australians impacted by bushfires will have help cleaning up with the Federal and State Governments covering the costs.
The clean-up and debris removal program will make sure farmers, households and businesses get the help they need.
Minister for Emergency Management David Littleproud said the Federal and State Governments would go dollar-for-dollar to fund the clean-up.
"This will make sure sites hit by fires are made safe so rebuilding can start," Minister Littleproud said.
"This is an important first step to a quick and strong recovery.
"The National Bushfire Recovery Agency will be moving as quickly as possible to get this program up and running.
"The Federal Government will continue standing shoulder-to-shoulder with these communities and will make more assistance available if it's needed."
South Australian Minister for Environment and Water David Speirs said the South Australian Government will lead the process to assist households and businesses in affected areas.
"We are working to speed this process up to help those affected by these devastating bushfires to ensure our communities get back up on their feet as quickly as possible," Minister Speirs said.
"We already have contractors out on the ground starting to deliver help to those that need it and assessing the scope and scale of exactly what waste services those in bushfire-affected regions need.
"The State Government will coordinate the clean-up activities to ensure efficient and safe removal of debris to minimise risks and impacts to public health and safety and harm to the environment or community well-being."
The urgent areas for priority response are the safe management and removal of asbestos, CCA treated timber ('permapine') and ash and hazardous chemicals like pesticide, herbicide and fertiliser.
Contractors have been on the ground treating those properties confirmed to contain asbestos with a non-hazardous gel that traps the asbestos dust until it can be safely removed.
Detailed assessments are also being completed to look at the most effective ways to remove bushfire waste in the affected regions. Where possible, the State Government will recover, reuse and recycle things like rubble, brick and metal roofing, shed sheeting and even fencing wire, to divert salvageable resources from landfill.
The South Australian Government has also committed to waiving the solid waste levy for fire-affected waste.
Anyone affected by the bushfires who needs help with the clean-up of debris is encouraged to register their needs through the Green Industries SA website at greenindustries.sa.gov.au/register-your-waste-needs.
