Close shave with razors brings arrest in Forster

Police have charged a man with the theft of several thousand dollars worth of razors after a traffic stop at Forster yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm yesterday, officers attached to Penrith Traffic & Highway Patrol were returning to their patrol after attending court.

The officers stopped an unregistered motor vehicle on the Pacific Highway and spoke to the 26-year-old male driver from Lithuania.

After searching the vehicle the officers located more than 270 packages of razors and blades with an estimated retail value of $10,000.

Police will allege the man stole the razors and blades from supermarkets after visiting Jesmond, Mayfield, Warabrook, Fletcher, Beresfield, Thornton, Raymond Terrace, Green Hills, Rutherford, Gloucester, Wingham, Kew, Lighthouse Beach, Lake Cathie and Lake Innes.

The man was arrested and taken to Forster Police Station where he was charged with having goods suspected of being stolen.

The man was granted strict conditional bail, and had his passport seized, to appear at Forster Local Court on Wednesday 22 February 2017.

Police are urging anyone, or any business, who believe they may have been a victim of a similar crime to call Crime Stoppers.
