Closure of Union Bridge on Chaudière Crossing due to high water flow

From: Public Services and Procurement Canada

Media advisory

For immediate release

National Capital Region, April 27, 2019

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise the public that the Union Bridge on the Chaudière Crossing will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians starting at 6 am on Sunday, April 28. Traffic control devices will be installed at the corner of Eddy and Laurier streets and at the intersection of Booth Street and the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway. Commissionaires will be stationed at both ends of the closure to redirect all vehicles and pedestrians to the Portage Bridge.

This closure is a result of forecasted high water levels and flows. PSPC will continue to monitor weather forecasts, river flows and water levels. The Union Bridge will remain closed until the water recedes to a level where the bridge is safe for inspections and use.

PSPC will inform the public when the bridge reopens.
