Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, Robyn Cahill, is spear-heading a high-level delegation to Indonesia this week as part of the Finocchiaro CLP Government's Year of Action, Certainty and Security.
The Minister will participate in the 2025 Indonesia Australia Business Conference (IABC) conference, where the Northern Territory is proud to be a gold sponsor. Themed Connecting People to Opportunities, the conference provides a platform for Indonesian and Australian business leaders to forge critical partnerships and explore market trends in the region.
"The Northern Territory Government values its partnership with IABC and the Australia Indonesia Business Council and looks forward to continuing our close cooperation to strengthen trade and investment opportunities between the Northern Territory and Indonesia," Ms Cahill said.
Minister Cahill will also meet with Indonesian officials to promote the Territory's strengths in critical minerals, agriculture, and the digital economy, as well as progressing the Critical Minerals Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Indonesia and the Northern Territory in November 2024. In its first year the MoU has delivered joint ministerial visits, industry exchange, participation in key investment forums and targeted engagement on mining royalties, supply chain development and strengthened collaboration paving the way for new pathways for trade and investment.
"This delegation is a demonstration of our Government's commitment to strengthening our relationships into the Asian region and underpins the work being undertaken to rebuild our economy."
"Our strategic location in the region positions the Territory as the best place to invest and do business and this visit reaffirms that the Northern Territory is a committed partner of Indonesia" Ms Cahill said.
The estimated cost for the Minister and Advisers is approximately $2,500. Final costs will be reported following the trip, in line with standard reporting processes."
