CLP Is Turning Your Empties Into Earnings

The CLP Finocchiaro Government has delivered an expansion of the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), putting more money back in Territorians' pockets and getting more litter out of our parks and waterways.

From early 2026 the CDS will include all beverage containers up to 3L, including wine, spirits and plastic bottles which were not previously accepted for refund.

Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment Joshua Burgoyne is excited to oversee this expansion. "Throughout the Territory I've seen litter strewn across our waterways and in the parks that children play in," Mr Burgoyne said.

"This expansion will help to further reduce litter in public spaces, making it safer and cleaner for Territorians to use those spaces," he said.

Expanding the CDS is about restoring the Territory lifestyle and putting more money back into the pockets of Territorians.
