The Finocchiaro CLP Government has delivered more than $14 million back into the pockets of Territorians and will continue to provide targeted relief to families, seniors, and regional communities in the 2026-2027 Budget.

Minister of People, Sport and Culture Jinson Charls said these initiatives provide tangible relief while ensuring Territorians remain active and connected.

"We know there are families who are managing everyday expenses and experiencing cost of living pressures. These initiatives provide practical support providing vouchers to support the fundamental skills of swimming or participate in a grassroots sport.

"I have had many discussions with seniors in our community, and the $550 prepaid card makes a genuine difference to the bottom line whether it's help with a power bill or grocery shop.

"These initiatives form part of the broader support with the CLP Finocchiaro Government providing $290 million in concessions to provide certainty, security and growth to our community," said Mr Charls.

The programs include the Active Regional and Remote Communities Program (ARRCP) which supported 12 councils providing activities to 73 regional and remote communities with a contribution of $4.23 million.

The ARRCP promotes healthy lifestyles and social connection by funding local sport, recreation, and cultural activities. The program focuses on youth and families, providing tailored, locally led initiatives to improve wellbeing.

Together the Sports Vouchers and Learn to Swim Vouchers represent an investment of $2.2 million in cost-of-living support for families. The Sports Vouchers have been redeemed over 18,000 times reducing the costs of young people participation in sport, recreation and cultural activities. A further 3,788 Learn to Swim vouchers have been supplied to encourage water safety and vital skills reflective of the Territory lifestyle.

Seniors were supported through the Seniors Recognition Scheme which has 18,202 members representing 74 percent of eligible senior Territorians. Collectively $7.7 million was spent by members using the $550 prepaid card to be used for essential goods and services, helping to reduce everyday household costs.

These initiatives form part of the 2026-27 Budget of $290 million in concessions, subsidies and targeted household support providing practical help where it matters most.
