The Policy Partnership is a commitment under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. It brings together all governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representatives to improve early childhood outcomes through genuine partnership. The joint Co-Secretariat team, with staff from the Australian Government Department of Education and SNAICC - National Voice for our Children, has exemplified shared decision-making and collaboration in the spirit of the National Agreement.
This nomination highlights the team's dedication to community-led reform and their role in supporting the Policy Partnership's work to improve outcomes for First Nations children.
At its recent meeting held on Gadigal Country in Sydney on 3 and 4 July 2025, the Policy Partnership continued its collaborative efforts. Members discussed key developments in early childhood care in New South Wales, endorsed a new workplan focused on child and family services, and agreed on next steps for a First Nations disability research project.
There is more work to be done, and the Policy Partnership will continue working together to drive change to improve Closing the Gap targets.
The Policy Partnership will reconvene in September 2025 to continue advancing its reform agenda.
