Coalition must approve Adani this week or Greens win

Australian Conservatives Release

Failure to provide the final Commonwealth approvals for the Adani coal mine this week would represent capitulation by the Coalition to the green-left and be a body blow for Queensland jobs, according to the Australian Conservatives.

"The clock is ticking for Mackay and Townsville where people are crying out for the jobs the unlocking of the Galilee Basin provides," Australian Conservatives Senate Candidate Lyle Shelton said.

"Queenslanders will suffer if the Liberals delay the approval and leave it to a Labor-Green government who will almost certainly kill-off the project. The Morrison Government must act in the interests of Queensland jobs and approve the Adani mine this week before the government enters care-taker mode," he continued.

"Reports that some Liberals are siding with Labor and the Greens to delay the final federal environmental approvals for Adani are disturbing and represent all that is wrong with the modern Liberal National Party. The best way to stop the Greens running economic policy in Australia is to give the Coalition some spine by voting Australian Conservatives in the Senate," Mr Shelton said.
